General guidelines of roof maintenance

For general roof maintenance we recommend the following:
- Semi-annual inspections: They need to be performed (usually before or after the rainy season) to check shingles and all flashings surrounding roof projections as chimneys, skylights and vents, for deterioration. Repairs are required, or you are not confident you can do it yourself, give us a call.
- Clean eaves annually: All fallen leaves and debris that has gathered in the eaves through needs to be cleaned annually to make sure that the downspouts are draining properly
- Trim trees: Check if you need to trim back any tree branches that are hanging over or in close proximity to the roof. Overhanging branches may fall to the roof, cause damages, or block out sunlight – too much shade prevents moisture from circulating out and promotes the growth of moss, reducing the lifespan of shingles.
